March 1999 BISHINIK, page 10 Obituaries IN MEMORY..... Bennie Lee Jones was born November 23, 1911 in Soper, Oklahoma to Ellis and Lizzie Smallwood Jones. He passed away May 17, 1987 at the age of 75. He was a longtime resident of Anadarko, Oklahoma and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Viola Keith, Effie Golden and Mae Johnson, and a grandson who died at birth. Survivors included his daughters, Margaret Dorrough, Cheryl Koch, Wanda Jones and Gayle Jones, all of Anadarko; nine sons, Gene Jones, Jimmy Don Jones, Ellie Jones and Bennie Jones, Jr., all of Anadarko; John Jones of Tulsa, Ray Jones of Syskeville, Pennsylvania, Dwayne Jones of Redding California, Lee Jones of Norman, Oklahoma and Robert Dale Jones of London, England; 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
BENNIE LEE JONES, JR. [photo] Bennie Lee Jones, Jr., 45, of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, February 24, 1999 in Anadarko. He was born August 21, 1953 in Anadarko to Bennie Lee, Sr., and Margaret Emma Jones. He was preceded in death by his father. Bennie was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and a lifelong resident of Anadarko. He was a 1973 graduate of Anadarko High School. He was a member of the High School football team and a distinguished tack athlete. He was an original member of the Eastside Brewers Men's Softball team. Bennie enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard in March 1972. He was awarded two Army Commendation Medals, Army Service Ribbon, national Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Oklahoma Long service Medal and Oklahoma Good Conduct Ribbon. He married the former Helen Isaacs March 24, 1972. There were two children from this marriage. He later married the former Debbie Edge on December 28, 1993 in Anadarko. He was a dedicated custodian at East Grade Elementary School for 26 years and a volunteer basketball coach of the Anadarko Youth Basketball League An avid sports fan, Bennie was a strong supporter of Anadarko Warrior athletics and a member of the Anadarko Booster Club. He was also a follower of the University of Oklahoma athletics and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed running, weightlifting, fishing, bingo and rock 'n roll music. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Chrystal Denise Jones of Anadarko; two sons, Jordan Chance Jones of the home and Joseph Tate Jones of Anadarko; his mother, Margaret Sandoval of Anadarko; one grandson, Austin Mikel Johnson; one granddaughter, Maggie Marie Jones; eight brothers, Eugene Jones and his wife, Kaye, Lee Jones and his wife, Brenda, Stanley Jones, Jimmy Jones and his wife, Janice, and Alley Jones, all of Anadarko, Dwayne Jones of Strang, Oklahoma.
