BERENGAR [I], son of [GEBHARD Graf im Niederlahngau & his wife ---] (-14 or 15 Jun, 882 or before). ... ... ... m ---. The name of Berengar's wife is not known.

Berengar & his wife had two children: 

# HILDEBERT (-18 Sep ---). "Hildebertus filius quondam Berengarii comitis" donated property "res…mee in comitatu Vuabrinse prope fluvio…Cherus villam…Beuram" for "germano meo Berengario" to Verdun Saint-Vanne by charter dated 18 Sep 882, subscribed by "Stephanus comes, Matfridus comes, Witpertus comes"[529]. The necrology of Verdun Cathedral records the death "XIV Kal Oct" of "Hildebertus comes"[530].

20. BERENGER (-Oct 868). .... .... m HILTRUDE, daughter of Emperor LOTHAIRE I & his wife Ermengarde de Tours ([826]-after [865/66]). Pope Nicholas I names "Helletrude Berengarii Comitis quondam relicta" in an undated letter which refers to her as "Lothario sorore sua"[909].

Berengar & his wife had two children: 

*a) CHILDEBERT [Hildebert] (-after 882). Conte di Camerino 850/82. Hildebert, son of Count Berengar donated property to St Vanne, Verdun by charter dated 882, subscribed by "Matfridus comes"[910].

  • b) BERENGER (-after 882). The primary source which confirms his parentage has not yet been identified. Conte. 850/82.
