To Observe Golden Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. John F. Hardiek will have the happiness of observing: their fiftieth wedding: anniversary at their home Sunday, February 4th. A Mass will be offered Sunday morning in St Francis Church at 8 o'clock which the family will attend,

Mr and Mrs Hardiek were married Tuesday, February 5, 1901 in St Francis Church here by Reverend Father Casimir. The late Joseph Hardiek, cousin of Mr. Hardiek and Mrs. Ben Esker, sister of Mrs. Hardiek were the witnesses.

The couple moved into a new home on their farm south of Teutopolis shortly after their marriage where they resided until 1942 when they moved to their present home in Teutopolis. Mr. Hardiek retired from farming at that time.

His legs have been affected for the past four years and he has been confined to a wheelchair however he is able to get about the house with the aid of crutches. He will be 79 years old on May 16th. Mrs. Hardiek is in fairly good health and will be 77 years old on April 24. Both enjoy playing cards immensely. Their daughter Mrs. Rose Hutmacher has been caring for her parents the past four years.

They are the parents of nine children, Fred and Lawrence of Dieterich Mrs. Rose Hutmacher, Louis, Mrs John (Bertha) Esker, Mrs. Harry (Juliann) Walker all of Teutopolis, Clarence who died in 1919 at the age of 7, Sister Mary Nathaniel, S-S-N-D (Margaret) of St, Louis, and Mrs Louis (Marie) Haarman of Wheeler They have thirty-six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Sister Mary Nathaniel S.S.N.D will arrive here Saturday from St Louis to visit until Wednesday with her parents.
