My mother was born in Bina, India second child of six Siblings. As well as being stunningly beautiful, she was a truly wonderful human being. She was married in 1959 and had five children in quick succession (she was done by 1966). She was married to Eric Lucas for only 18 years and they adored one another even if they were both fiery and yes there were many well documented arguements, but she ended up with a fantastic jewellery collection as a result. Dad always apologised with a great piece of jewellery - and so he should have!
No-one ever met Bernadine Lucas without saying what a lovely person she was. She was kind, generous to a fault and a fantastic mother and example to her five children who loved her dearly. She was just iron clad support.
Towards the end of her life, her greatest joy was her six grandchildren who adored their Nanny Bernadine and still remember the lunches and being allowed to do whatever they wanted at her house! It was their playground and haven.
Life will never be the same without her, and there probably isn't a day that goes by when we don't think of her. She gave us a most precious gift; her legacy which was to be a strong family without her and completely supportive of our siblings. I think we manage that very well. Love you always Mum - thank you for everything.
