This _might_ be Bernard's 1910 census record, although it lists his mother as Helen, not Alena. It shows two sisters, Anna (23) and Mary (18) https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M28X-Z9T

This _might_ be Bernard's 1900 census record, still showing Helen (47) as mother (and head of household), and showing additional siblings Alex (24) and Herman (23) both born in Germany, as well as Bernadina (18) and William (15), both born in Ohio. That implies that Bernard's father was also Bernard, and that the family emigrated Germany between 1877 and 1882.
