MRS. BERNICE MAXWELL CRUMP, 61, well known Stephens County matron and wife of Arch Crump, died at 7 a.m. Friday in a local hospital following five years of declining health and six months serious illness.
A daughter of the late William M. and Elizabeth Reed Maxwell, she was born June 18, 1903, in Stephens County, and had resided here all of her life. Prior to her last illness, she was associated with her husband in the operation of Crump's Grocery on Mize Road.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors: her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Dan Davis of Toccoa; five sisters, Mrs. J. E. Miller, Sr. of Thomson, GA, Miss Beatrice Maxwell of the home, Mrs. Lawrence Kesler, Mrs. Allen Loden and Mrs. John Loden, all of Toccoa; three brothers, Tom Maxwell, G. Z. Maxwell and Pete Maxwell, all of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, from New Hope Baptist Church, Rev. Ralph Bagwell and Rev. Lester Stamey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers: David Crump, Nat Crump, Coy Maxwell, Maurice Wiley, Charlie Miller and Howard Maxwell.
