Bernice Travis, 76, Last Rites To Be Held Here Today
Funeral services for Mrs. Duane (Bernice Marie Douglas) Travis, 76, of Clarinda, will be held Thurs., May 1, at 2p.m. at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford officiated by Carl Cummings. Mrs. Travis died April 27 in Municipal Hospital in Clarinda. Interment will be at Bedford Cemetery, Bedford.

Hold Final Rites May 1 Here For Bernice Travis, 76
Funeral services for Mrs. Duane (Bernice Marie) Travis, 76, of Clarinda were held May 1 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford with Carl Cummings officiating. Mrs. Travis died in Municipal Hospital in Clarinda April 27,1975. Interment was at Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Ia.
Bernice Marie Douglas, daughter of William H. [enry] and Huldah L. [ee] Fitch Douglas, was born in Bedford, Ia., June 20, 1898.
She grew to maturity in Bedford where she resided until moving to Clarinda where she was employed by Cobb's Ice Cream parlor for a number of years. Later she was employed as a waitress until her retirement.
In 1949 she was united in marriage to Duane Travis at Red Oak, Ia., and they have resided in Clarinda, Ia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Oscar [Elsworth], [William] Orville and Melvin [Clifford] Douglas; and a sister, Myrtle Owings.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Duane, of the home; one sister, Ida [Belle] Kemple, Bedford, and a brother, John [Oliver] Douglas, Maryville, Mo.
She was a kind and considerate wife, sister, friend and neighbor who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
