Bessie Cook (Irons)

Bessie Irons Cook passed peacefully from this life on April 28, 2009 at the Greenwood Manor in Lehi, Utah. Bessie lived at the manor for the past three and one half years.

She was born August 27, 1916 in Nephi, Utah to Harry and Ethel Irons.

She was the fourth of five children, two brothers, and two sisters; all of which preceded her in death.

She married the love of her life, Kermit Cook, on July 10, 1939 in the Manti Temple. Kermit passed away in January 2006.

Bessie loved being surrounded by beautiful flowers and always enjoyed having a wonderful vegetable garden. She was well known for her green thumb in her home town of Fountain Green, Utah.

Service to others came very natural to Bessie, both in the church and the community. Bessie served in many church callings plus a mission at the Manti Temple Visitors Center with her husband. She always enjoyed providing home cooked meals and fresh grown vegetables to those that were sick or in need.

The very center of her life was her Heavenly Father and her Savior. Her testimony of Jesus Christ will radiate through her family throughout eternity. Her focus was always her children and her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and friend. Always living by faith and instilling the same in all those who knew her.

She is the mother of three daughters and one son Elsie Ann Bryan (Glenn) of West Valley, Utah, Nancy Worthington (Jay) of Highland, Utah, Rosemary McFadden (David) of St. George, and Raymond who preceded her in death. Bessie has 17 grandchildren (two preceded her in death) and 43 great-grandchildren.

Your life mother will always be a beacon on a hill for each of us as we walk the path of life. "God be with you until we meet again".

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Fountain Green City Cemetery. Published in the Deseret News from 5/2/2009 - 5/3/2009.
