Bessie May Schlagel

SCHLAGEL- Bessie M Schlagel, 96, 401 N. Main Street, died at 11:50 a.m. Monday, June 13,1983 in St. Anthony Hospital after a long illness. Born July 18,1886, in Mifflin, Wisconsin, daughter of Frank and Mary Owens. Lived 76 years in Rockford coming from Mifflin. Married to John Schlagel in Rockford June 5 1909; he died in August, 1930. She was a registered practical nurse 50 years. Member of Royal Neighbors of America. Survivors include a son, Lyle, Rockford; a sister, Mrs. Leonore MacArthur, Detroit, Michigan; many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by three brothers and six sisters. Services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, in Ulrey Funeral Home- Chapel of the Chimes, 7000 W. State Street, with the Rev. Donald Keck, Pastor of Aldergate United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. No visitation.
