Bessie Wallace, here treated, is the daughter of John Wallace, Maltman in Glasgow. Glasgow Burgesses, 1573-1750, p. 162 Her mother is Margaret Thomson. She was born before 4 November 1640, the date upon which her baptism was registered at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland. [National Records of Scotland, Glasgow Baptisms, reference OPR.644/1/3]

Bessie Wallace, here treated, is almost certainly that youngest daughter of Margaret Thomson, identified as Elizabeth Wallace, who was aged twelve years or less when her mother made her last will and testament on 7 December 1652. Her Mother's Last Will and Testament

Margaret Thomson made her last will and testament at Glasgow on 9 December 1652. She nominated William, Daniell and Elizabeth Wallace, her youngest children, as her only executors and universal intromitters with her goods and gear. She also appointed John Wallace, her eldest son, James Pedie, Skinner, John Park, maltman, and James Thomson, Cordiner, to be overseers to her before mentioned three children, and further nominated James Pedie, John Park and James Thomson, to be tutors to her two youngest children, Daniell and Elizabeth Wallace, during their pupilarity. Margaret Thomson added a codicil to her last will and testament on 17 December 1652, by which she left one thousand pounds Scots to her eldest son John Wallace.
