BETTY L. BEARD , 93, of Santa Fe died Thursday in Portland, Ore. She was born Dec. 1, 1909, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Albert Marcus and Blanche Seely LeMessurier. She graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor of science degree. She and Daniel Bartlett Beard were married in Syracuse on June 4, 1932. They lived in a variety of places around the United States as Mr. Beard followed a career in the National Park Service. They moved to Santa Fe in 1963 where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Women's Club of Santa Fe, the League of Women Voters, and the American Association of University Women. She moved to Portland, Ore., in October 1992.

She was preceded in death by

• her husband, Daniel B. Beard in 1977;
• her parents; and
• a granddaughter, Nancy Gail Beard.

She is survived by

• her sister, Jeanne Logan of Syracuse, N.Y.;
• two sons,
  • Daniel Carter Beard, II and wife Barbara of Bristow, Va., and
  • Albert LeMessurier Beard and wife Patricia of Portland, Ore.;
• five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be conducted.
