About Betty Lorraine Pedro
Grew up during WWII, when Pearl Harbor was attacked she was in the 7th Grade. She remembers it was a very scary time, had to carry around gas masks wherever you went. They had block wardens to enforce the blackouts - all windows had to be blackened so no light could be seen at night, and they enforced curfew. She quit the 11th grade and was working as a secretary at Fort Shafter Army Base(i think, gotta double check with her on this one). She said she was invited to a welcome home party when our dad came home from Guadal Canal, they met and ever since that time up until his death in 1985 they were inseperable.
True love!
They went on to have many children, she lost several in between Susie, had Bonnie Faith and Tommy, they both passed not soon after their births, then the "second generation" began with Gerri.
I remember she babysat 10 kids at one time. Just so all of us kids could go to St. Anthony's she said we were going to all have a good education.
She is the greatest mom someone can ever have the pleasure of having. She has been through so many things throughout her life. God is still doing an awesome job on her. He's not through with her yet.
Whenever I hear or think about the song, "The Wind Beneath My Wings", I think of her.
All my love to Betty, your daughter Gerri
