Funeral Services Saturday for Mrs. Betty Ellen Waller

Died Wednesday Morning; Burial at East Liberty

Funeral services were held in the Mansfield funeral home Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Betty Ellen Waller who passed away last Wednesday morning following a short illness of flu and complications.

The services were in charge of the Rev. J. F. Stille of the Emerson Baptist church and music was furnished by a quartet from the Malvern Baptist church; Mrs. F. C. Collins, Mrs. Robert Stroud, Mrs. O. R. Hyde, and Miss Vera Kerney, with Mrs. G. S. Facrett accompanist.

Burial was in the East Liberty cemetery and pall bearers were Robert Boehner, A. P. Kilmartin, J. H. Beckwith, John Paulson, W. H. Clay and Clyde Barger.

The following obituary was read by Rev. Stille:

"Betty Ellen Banta was born near Pleasureville, Ky., on May 30, 1861. and passed away in Malvern March 3, 1937. She was the second daughter of W. D. and Anna Virginia Banta. She grew to womanhood in the nearby vicinity and joined the Baptist church at at early age.

In May, 1890, she married Charles Thomas Waller. The young couple were happily married 12 years, when her husband passed away, leaving in death were two children who died in infancy. One child passed away in 1911.

"She first came to Iowa about 24 years ago and since then has traveled in various states, making her home in both Iowa and Kentucky.

"Three children, Mrs. Ann Ella Nevill of Turners Station, Ky., John A. and William J. of Malvern, 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends mourn her passing.

"She is survived by five brothers and one sister: Mrs. Cassie Tucker of Pleasureville, Ky., Virgil Banta of Louisville, Ky., Brant Banta of Eminence, Ky., John Banta of Houston, Tex., Joe Banta of Denver, Colo., William Banta of Fairfield."
