- Phebe was born January 7, 1724/1725 in Andover, MA. Phebe was the daughter of John CARLTON and Hannah BARKER.
He lived on his father's farm but later removed to Royalston where he and his brother are listed among the first settlers. He and his sons all served during the revolution with his death, it is said, coming at Bunker Hill. He advertised repudiation of any debts of his wife Phebe on 16 May 1771 in the Boston Newsletter. This may indicate separation or divorce.
