BILLY RONALD MAYS, 73, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009, at St. Marys Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Brother Gordon Simpson. Burial will be in Burlington-Greenlawn Cemetery, South Point, Ohio. He was born April 28, 1936, in Fort Gay, W.Va., a son of the late Opal Mays Walker. He was an electrician and a contractor. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church of Proctorville, Ohio. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Mays. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Faye Laney Roberts Mays; five sons, Ronnie and Pete Mays, John Palmer, and Bo and Danny Roberts; seven daughters, Karen Jinnings, Beckie Hess, Christy Chapmen, Kay Ullom, Tootie Fry, Rhonda Ferguson and Penny Hosser; 19 grandsons; 10 great-grandsons; 15 granddaughters; eight great-granddaughters; one special little great -granddaughter, Emily Kristine Smith; four brothers, Ted and Jack Mays, and John and Mike Walker; two sisters, Betty Riley and Margaret Keighley; an uncle, Keith Mays; several nieces and nephews; and two good friends, Gary and Bonnie Workman. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home. The Veterans' Honor Guard of Huntington will conduct Military Graveside Rites.
