He served two years in the Navy during WWII from August 1944 to May 1946.

On Jan. 15, 1948, (Blaine's parents' wedding anniversary), he married Marie Fuhriman in the Logan LDS Temple. Their first child, Maxine, was born Nov. 1, 1948, on the birthday of her aunt, Dewey, and Leah's first child, Norma. Blaine was blessed with eight children; five boys and three girls.

Blaine loved fishing and golfing with his sons, brother, grandsons and friends. He always had a beautiful garden and enjoyed sharing it with family, friends and neighbors. Blaine was a great man and was loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

Blaine was an officiator in the Logan LDS Temple and also served at the recommend desk. Blaine and Marie served three missions together: Jamaica, Fiji and the John Johnson Home in Hiram, Ohio. He had a strong testimony of the Gospel which was shown through his lifetime of service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to his family and friends.
