OBITUARY: Blair Cornell Scofield died peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2004 in Orem.
Born 11 November 1924 at Fish Haven, Idaho to Cornell and Adelia (Barker) Scofield, the first of three children. Married Beth Holindrake 25 November 1953, later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. Survived by his wife Beth, children Craig H. Greene (Mary Jean) of Highland, Ian Maxfield (Brian) of Sandy, and one sister, Florine Berntson (Robert), in Idaho Falls, Idaho, as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grand-children. Preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Beverly, and one great-grandson, Drake.
Graduated from high school in 1942 in Blackfoot, Idaho, where his hobby was playing sax and clarinet in a dance orchestra. Enlisted in the Navy at age seventeen, served two tours of duty in the Pacific in World War II in the medical corps. Later attended Idaho State College at Pocatello, Idaho, graduating in 1951 with a BS in Pharmacy. Practiced in Idaho Falls, Santa Rosa, California, and Utah Valley.
Had many church callings including Elders Quorum President, High Councilor, and Bishop for nine years. He and his wife served in the Florida, Jacksonville mission in 1990 and 1991. He was also active in "The Sons of the Utah Pioneers." In his retirement he regretted the need to give up six of his hobbies because they took up too much time. An avid genealogist, he published in "Connecticut Ancestry" and put his vast Scofield database online to invite corrections and solicit extensions to his family history.
