BLANCA ROVEN OBITUARY
October 15, 1916 - September 20, 2021 Mrs. Blanca Roven passed away just shy of her 105th birthday. She is survived by her two children, Charles Roven and Jennifer Tanner, four grandchildren, Daryn, Allison Rebecca, Tali, and Sam and five great grandchildren, Johnathan and Sophia, Milan, Levi and Mia.Born in Munkacz, Hungary, she emigrated from Bardejov, Czechoslavakia with her husband, Milan Roven, after the Holocaust. After his untimely passing, she got remarried to Ernest Wintner who pre-deceased her.A giving person and great philanthropist, she supported many charities and was actively involved with the West Coast Friends of Bar Ilan University, Israel for many years, highlighted by being president for 15 years, in the 90's. Among her accomplishments during that period, she was to a great extent responsible for the university's huge growth, including dramatic expansion of the research, medical and learning facilities. At the same time Blanca made sure countless scholarships went to deserving Israeli student soldiers.From the President of Bar-Ilan University Prof. Arie Zaban: "What our university has accomplished over its brief history is in no small measure due to leaders like Blanca Roven, who were determined to see to it that we had everything a world class university needs to excel. We owe her a great debt of gratitude." Blanca Roven wil be remembered by friends and family as a warm, dynamic and powerful woman, in many ways a force of nature. She touched the lives of so many and will be missed .
