Bobby Hume (56), A former Rangers and Aberdeen player was killed in a carjacking on 26th March 1997, as he drove in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was shot dead.
A police spokesman said last night: "Two men jumped out, forcing him to stop. "They tried to grab the keys and a woman passenger in the car ran off. She later heard a gunshot."
Bobby, originally from Hyndland, Glasgow, was hit in the chest and died behind the steering wheel.
He lived in Johannesburg with his wife and they had four children. Wing ace Bobby joined Rangers from junior club Kirkintilloch Rob Roy in 1958 and played around 30 first team games as well as being a reserve side stalwart.
He went to Middlesbrough for pounds 10,000 in 1962 and a year later transferred to Aberdeen for pounds 3000.
Bobby joined the Highland Park team in Johannesburg in 1965 and had lived in the city since then.
Rangers legend John Greig said: "I am deeply saddened."
