About Bonnie Bell Burgan
Bonnie Bell Bearss Burgan died peacefully in Brevard, North Carolina, on August 14, 2017. Bonnie was born March 25, 1924 in Ellsworth, Michigan to Hubert and Rose Bearss. Bonnie was raised in Michigan and married Grover Burgan in 1943. They later moved to Charleston, West Virginia, where they raised their family. Bonnie was a graduate of Morris Harvey College and Marshall University. She taught business education classes at South Charleston High School for 20 years. Bonnie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in South Charleston. After retiring, Bonnie and Grover moved to Brevard, North Carolina in 1985. In retirement, Bonnie was an active member of Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church. She was an ordained Elder in both the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston WV and the Brevard-Davidson Presbyterian Church. She also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and at the Transylvania Community Hospital. A memorial service for Bonnie is scheduled at Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church on September 16, 2017, at 2:00 pm. The Reverend Keith Thompson will officiate. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Grover, daughter, Sharon Satterfield, and son, Douglas Burgan. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Graham (Bruce), daughter, Linda Herbert, daughter in-law, Dawna Burgan, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
