Sylvia Catherine (Osterhaus) Breitbach b Sun, Aug 6 1916. Breitbach was dtr of Frank & Amelia (Ovel) Osterhaus in Bankston; Dubuque Co, IA. She lived on farm near Bankston, IA & rec'd her education at St Clemens Catholic School. Mon, Nov 21 1938, she m Edmund Breitbach at St Clemens Church. They lived in Dubuque; Dubuque Co, IA & worked at battery factory. Nov 1949, they moved to Colesburg where they owned & operated Hub Tavern for 30 yrs. Sylvia was active mbr of St Patrick's Catholic Church. She belonged to Altar Society & prayer group. She was also mbr of Pine Needles. Sylvia enjoyed golfing, traveling & spending time w/children, grdchildren & many friends. Her hobbies were quilting & crocheting. Sylvia Catherine (Osterhaus) Breitbach, age 91, passed away Tues, May 22 2007, at Regional Medical Ctr, Manchester; Delaware Co, IA following brief illness. Those left to mourn her passing are children & grandchildren she loved dearly: 3 sons--James (Kelly) Brietbach, Dubuque, IA; Timothy (Mary) Breitbach, Colesburg, Delaware Co, IA; Michael (Theresa) Breitbach, Strawberry Pt, Clayton Co, IA; dtr--Patricia (Mike) Grady, Minnetonka, Hennepin Co, MN; grdchildren Chris, David, Brooke, Andrea, Justin, Matt, Katie, Tony, Bridget Breitbach, Jack, Justin, Sara & Emma Cullers, Gavin & Bliss Grady & 1 ggrdson Jack; sisters Evelyn Friedman, Farley, Dubuque Co, IA; Verna Klosterman, Dubuque, IA; Babe Kluesner, Farley, IA; sis-in-law: Helen Osterhaus, Dubuque, IA. Also bro & sis-in-law Francis & Leona Breitbach along w/many nieces, nephews & host of friends. Sylvia was preceded in death by parents, step-mother, & husband (Wed, Jul 28 1976), grdson Mark Edmund, 2 bros Wilfred (in infancy), Cletus Osterhaus & sis Clarinda Klosterman. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be 3-7:00pm Thurs, May 24 2007 at funeral home & aft 9:30am Fri until svcs begin at church. Funeral svc will begin at 10:30am Fri, May 25 2007 at St Patricks Catholic Church, Colesburg, IA. Following svcs internment will be at St Patricks Catholic Cem, Colesburg, IA. Leonard Funeral Home is caring for family & arrangements.
