About Brev. Brig. Gen. Henry Augustus Hambright, (USA)
Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. A veteran of the Mexican War, he served in the first days of the Civil War as a Captain in the three-month enlistment unti 1st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. After his enlistment expired, he was appointed as a Captain in the newly-raised 11th United States Regular Infantry. He served in the Regulars until he was commissioned as Colonel and commander of the 79th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers on June 7, 1865 for "meritorious services".
