Brian J. Lehrer

Brian Lehrer is an American radio talk show host on New York City's public radio station WNYC. His daily two-hour program, The Brian Lehrer Show, features interviews with newsmakers and experts about current events and social issues. Lehrer was formerly an anchor and reporter for NBC Radio Networks and has been in broadcast journalism for over 30 years.

Lehrer grew up in Bayside, NY, a neighborhood of Queens, and went to high school there. He went on to get BA degrees in music and mass communications at the State University of NY in Albany and two masters degrees – one in public health from Columbia University and another in journalism from Ohio State University.

Lehrer has hosted his radio show since its inception in 1989. His guests include politicians, authors, politicians and occasionally, less prominent individuals affected by the news. Some well known guests have been Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, musician Wynton Marsalis, author Margaret Atwood, and baseball player Yogi Berra. The show won a 2007 Peabody Award for "facilitating reasoned conversation about critical issues and opening it up to everyone within earshot."
