Brig. Eric Ponsonby Hartshorn, DSO DCM VD

Brig. E.P. Hartshorn lost an arm in a war before WWII, but still served: 1940-06-12–1941-07-16 Commanding Officer 1st Transvaal Scottish. 1942-07-03–1943-01-18 Commanding Officer 1st South African Brigade, North Africa.

Served in the Manchester Regiment (British Army), with the Gurkha Rifles, and in the Indian Army. Also served in the Union Defence Force (South Africa) during WWII.
