About Britta Aamundsdotter Tveito
source: Etne-soga by Ståle Dyrvik, vol V "Folket. Grindheim sokn." p121 items 3e and 4
Here is what our Tvedten cousins in Norway say about the use of Tvetden instead of Tveito
"The use of Tvedten was a "much finer" rewriting of the name Tveito. One must remember between year approx 1350 and 1814 Norway was ruled under the king of Denmark. The officials like Priests and Tax collectors, Judges etc. was heavily influenced by Danish language, and Tveito was a bit "farmish" and did not sound very good in writing. So to make it a bit finer they wrote it Tvedten. I have seen in some old papers different ways of how the name Tvedten have been written like, Tuetten, Tuedten, Tveiten.
Another Norwegian cousin suggested this change started with Ertik Eriksen Tvedten - Erik Eriksson Tvedten
