Sir Walter Mansel of Missenden Bucks Married Berga Langeston or Langton, a Governor heiress, daughter of Sir Wiiliam Langeston, Knight Lord of Henllys and Landgrove, in Gower, by his Wife Eva, daughter of William (Gam) de Broase, Lord of Gower and his wife Isabel, daughter of Richard de Clare Earl of Hertford by the said Berga Langeston ( a co- parcener, it is said with her sister Joan Langeston, wife of Peter Barret, fudal Lord of Pendine, Co, Camarthen, who has part of her portion, the mansions and demense lands of Henllys and Landgrove), who thus become a co-heir through the death issueless of Sir John Langeston, her brother, who bore a “Chevron Ermine, inter 3 Lions rampant or Sir Robert of Missenden Bucks. By some he is called the 10th in succession, though others state he was eleventh from the first Phillip the Norman known as de la mans, from the district upon the Sarthe in the upper provinces of Marne. This Richard also married a Grower heiress and became possessed the castle and manor of Scurlage with his wife Lucy, daughter and heiress to Phillip de Scurlage ( corrupted afterwards, into Scurlock), the feudal Lord, thereof and of Nicoleston, Barry and Stembridge, who arms are given in M. S. As “Argent 3 bar gules,” They appear to have had Issue, with other 4 sons, Hugh, the heir, William, Robert and John, the elder son succeeded his father and becamr Sir Hugh Mansel, Knight of Missenden and Gower, etc in Wales.
1302 – Her father William de Langton tried to bring complaints against the King and was kidnapped by John Iweyn, steward of Oystermouth Castle and held prisoner until he withdrew his claims.
