Buster Dunlap passed away Wednesday, December 14th, 2005, after a long illness. His family was by his side. Born December 3rd, 1930, in White Oak, Oklahoma, he was the son of Tom and Loma Dunlap. He attended schools in both Tiawah and Inola. Buster married Mary Elizabeth Spence Smith on May 26th, 1962 in Miama, Oklahoma. This union brought six children together, Buster having three and Mary also having three. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

For nearly forty-four years Buster was lovingly devoted to Mary. One was rarely ever without the other. When he retired in 1992, after forty years with McDonnell-Douglas as a general foreman, Buster and Mary began to spend even more time together. They traveled the world, going to both New York and Hawaii on two different occasions. They also traveled all across Europe, seeing the beautiful sites of Paris and the Rivera. A trip to Paradise Island in the Bahamas was another special destination. But, at the top of Buster's favorite travel experiences was the train ride across Canada. Short trips to the horse races in Hot Springs, Arkansas were always filled with both fun and lasting friendships. Only health challenges kept them away these past years.

Though travels were important times, Buster also found pleasures in many other things at home in Claremore. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for thirty-two years. He loved old John Wayne movies and Elvis Presley music. He also spent quite a bit of spare time tinkering with his 1931 Model A Roadster. It was truly the apple of his eye. Some would say you could safely eat off the engine. It was kept in tip top shape after Buster carefully restored it to its mint condition. He had wonderful times driving it in the local parades. He was especially proud to drive his granddaughter, Jackie, in the 2002 Will Rogers Day Parade when she was the reigning Mrs. Oklahoma.

This devoted family man and friend to many is survived by his wife, Mary of their home in Claremore; his six children, Bobby Dunlap and his wife Marilyn of Glenpool, Brenny Dunlap and his wife Stephanie, John P. Smith and Doug Smith and his wife Pam, Billie Amos and her husband Ronnie all of Claremore and Brenda Rogers of Tulsa; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother, Jim Dunlap and his wife Jane of Anchorage, Alaska and sisters, Mary Bump and her husband Leo and Frances Moore all of Claremore and Esther Stark of Tulsa and Phyllis Lund of Denver, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, brothers Willard, Philip, Nolan and Bob and a sister, Lula Mae Farris.

He will be remembered with only loving and caring thoughts forever.
