Subsequently graduated from Penn State University with BS and MS degrees majoring in psychology. Taught and supervised high school special education and also served as a clinical psychologist. Married Betty Ayers and resided at McElhattan, Clinton County, Pennsylvania. Byron and Betty had 2 daughters and 4 sons.
