CPO Bobby B. Evans

Bobby B. Evans, 72, of Holly Hill, FL passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Born in Florence, South Carolina to Beasley Evans and Beulah Jowers Evans. He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1957. The Coast Guard provided a rewarding experience for Bobby and his family. Stationed in beautiful locations, such as, Kodiak Island, Alaska, the Great Lakes region; the Upper North Atlantic, and Florida. He was so very proud of his lighthouse detail and rewarding accomplishments as Chief Petty Officer. He retired to Florida after 21 years of dedicated service for our country. After serving, He was employed and retired by General Electric, Daytona Beach Plant. He is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Reilly Evans. Mourning his loss are his beloved children, Deborah Evans Tisdel (David) of Deltona, FL; Barbara Evans Grau (Ivan), of Daytona Beach, FL; Don Hugh Evans (Cheryl) of Palm Coast, FL; and (his "little girl") Dawn Marie Murphy Evans, of Holly Hill, FL; his sister, Violet Dennis, of Sumter, SC; brothers, Roland Evans (Sarah), of Mayesville, SC; Gene Evans, Holly Hill, FL; and Donny Evans, (deceased); his eight grandchildren, Christopher, Shane, Kayla, Brianna, Logan, Savannah, Hunter and Paige Elizabeth (deceased). They will miss their "Pop Pop". Bobby relished in attending and spending time with all his relatives at his annual family reunions in South Carolina. Bobby had such a magnetic personality and was always ready to lend a helping hand and as a result he formed a lifetime bond with many friends and neighbors who loved him dearly. Bobby enjoyed his retirement, never wore a watch! He was content fishing the day away, then sharing his "rewards" and "fishing stories" with all who would listen. His greatest enjoyment and what brought the biggest smile to his face was family occasions, he loved being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, friends and family, he will be missed beyond words. A memorial service will be held on Sat., Dec 31st at 2:00pm at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill, FL 32117.
