About CPT Peter Schuyler, Jr.
Peter Schuyler lived his entire life near the Rensselaerwyck Mansion in an area known as "The Flats." He inherited Winter's Plantation as part of his mother's inheritance. He alone of his father's sons continued the direct line of that branch of the Schuyler family. As a young man Peter Schuyler was bold and fearless. Under the direction of New York Governor Burnet, he was commissioned a captain and was given the order to erect and defend a frontier fort (Irondequoit) in New York State with a company of ten men. Under great hardship and danger the mission was accomplished. In his later years he became deaf and was confined to the family farms.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Nov 20 2020, 2:16:58 UTC
