Calvin Daily Burleson

Calvin D. Burleson, 71, formerly of Jones County, died Saturday at his home in San Angelo. He was a retired farmer.

Funeral will be held at 9 p.m. Sunday at the Church of Christ here with Minister T.L. Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Lawrence Funeral Home.

Born in Alabama, Mr. Burleson lived as a child in Mississippi and there married the former Martha Jane Anglin in 1900. The couple came to Texas in 1919 settling in Jones County where Mrs. Burleson died six years later.

Mr. Burleson returned to Mississippi in 1926. He married his second wife, Fannie Lou Oliver, March 6, 1926. The couple came to Texas in the same year. Mr. Burleson had lived since that time in Jones, Scurry and Tom Green Counties.

Survivors are his wife and 10 children by his first marriage. The sons are Lester Burleson of Abilene, S.R. Burleson of San Angelo, D.F. Burleson of San Angelo, M.M. Burleson of Big Spring, C.D. Burleson, Jr. of Sweetwater, Otis Burleson of San Angelo. Daughters are Mrs. Ethel Klipper of Quanah, Mrs. J.H. Binnicker of Stamford, Mrs. George Pelton of Anson, and Mrs. Theda Roach of Stamford.

Other survivors are three brothers, J.M. Burleson of Tupelo, Ira Burleson of Dennis, Miss., and Almerine Burleson of Tishomingo, Miss; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Deaton of Iuka, Miss., Mrs. Eddie White and Mrs. Rhodie White of Birmingham, Ala; 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
