Birth: Nov. 18, 1772 in Grafton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA. Death: Dec. 24, 1862 in Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA

Daughter of Lucy Whitney and Asalph Sherman.

Married her first husband, divorcee, Job Adams Sr. 8 January 1796 at Barre, Washington, Vermont.

She was mother to Polly Sherman, born 3 May 1793 at Barre. They moved to Job's home on West Hill in the east part of what had been Wildersburgh Township before its' 1793 naming of "Barre".

A daughter, born to them 6 October 1798 at Barre, was Lucy Adams. Another, named Candace Adams was born 29 September 1800 and Sally Adams was born about 1801 also at Barre.

Candace's daughters married as follows:

  1. Polly Sherman md. Isriel Gruin 26 April 1814 at Barre. Later married Cyril Green.
  2. Lucy Adams md. Lewis Peck 6 December 1818 at Barre.
  3. Candace Adams md. Dr. Benjamin Palmer 6 January 1824 at Bloomfield, Trumbull, Ohio.
  4. Sally Adams, unmarried. (aka as Sally Bushnell)

Candace remained a widow for 25 years after Job's death at 39 years old.

She moved to Bloomfield, Trumbull, Ohio with her oldest daughter & 2 youngest daughters. On 8 May 1829, she married a prominent Trumbull County widower, her second husband, Colonel William Bushnell at Lyme, New London, Connecticut.

He lived until age 83 and she until 90.
