About Capt. Donald Alvin Amend
David Alvin Amend was a Captain in the US Infantry and became a POW in 1941.
He was in Camp Cabanatuan until his transport to a POW Camp in Japan.
In 1944 he went to another POW Camp in Japan on the "Hellship Arisan Maru", it was torpedoed on October 24, 1944 by friendly fire. When the ship started to sink, he tried to escape, but got shot by the Japanese Guards.
