"Captain Edward W. Mann served in the Civil War, Oswego, Kendall County, Illinois. He was a QuarterMaster Sergeant with the Fourth Illinois Calvary , Company C which was formed September 1861. In June 1865 the remaining men of the 4th were put into the 12th Calvary of Chicago. In the 1870 Census of Kendall County he is 53 yrs old ans his occupation is Storekeeper. The Kendall County(Illinois) Historical Society advise E. Mann was born May 2, 1818 in Worcester, MA. His obituary was in the May 17, 1899 Kendall County Record."
