About Capt. Frank Beckwith Tucker
5th Great Nephew to the Commanding General of the Continental Army and 1st President of the United States, George Washington, Great Grandson to Lt. Col. John Augustine Washington, C.S.A. killed by a Union sniper during the civil war. A direct descendant of Richard Henry Lee and also a descendant of Sir Jennings Beckwith on his mothers side.
After receiving a battle wound on March 21, 1951, Capt. Tucker spent two months in a Japanese hospital. After recuperating, he received the Bronze Star for this brave action and returned to duty. While leading an attack on Hill 487 in Ukkonggi, Korea, Capt. Tucker stood up yelling commands and was cut down by machine gun fire from enemy positions.
