About Capt. George Graff
Was a captain in the Revolutionary War for Maryland. George Graf, son of Hans Jr. and Elizabeth Carpenter Graf, was born April 6, 1739 in Lancaster County and died while a prisoner of War during the American Revolution. He married in Lancaster County, Mary Ferree, daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth Eltinge Ferret.

George Graf went into Maryland later than his father and brother Jacob, and settled on land given his wife by her Mother, Elizabeth Eltinge. After the death of George Graf, also spelled Grafft, his widow, Mary, married at Hagerstown, November 20, 1783, Griffith Willett. The couple took Abraham with them and moved to Kentucky. They settled near Bardstown.
Some of the Graff children wrote their surname as Grove, except the family of Abraham who used the name Graft.
After George's death as a prisoner of war, Mary remarried at Hagerstown on November 20, 1783 to a Griffith Willett. Mary, Griffith, and the young Abraham moved to Kentucky and settled near Bardstown.
DAR Lineage V.142 spells the name as Grafft.
