About Capt. Herbert Algernon Adam
He was given the name of Herbert Algernon Adams at birth. On 16 August 1907 his name was legally changed to Captain Herbert Algernon Adam by Deed Poll. He fought in the First World War, when he was mentioned in despatches. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy. He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1919.
