About Capt. James Cornish
He was a farmer, and resided in Simsbury, Conn., where he was one of the leading citizens. His military title was obtained through his connection with the old colonial militia or train bands, being commissioned by vote of (October, 1736) Connecticut General Assembly as Captain "of the south company or train band in the town of Symsbury."
Son of James Cornish Sr. and his first wife, Elizabeth Thrall married at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut Colony, on 10 November 1693.
