Brother of Gen. Paul Barringer of War of 1812, Granduncle of three very prominent Barringer brothers. Paul Moreau Barringer who was a US Congressman and good friend of Abraham Lincoln. Gen. Rufus Clay Barringer of the 1st NC Cavalry, and Victor Clay Barringer who was appointed by Pres. Grant as one of three commissioners to compile the revised statutes of the US and who also served as the US Judge on the Court of International Tribunal in Alexandria, Egypt.
