Was a captain in the war of 1812. The Muster Rolls of the War of 1812 (page 44) lists John Frost as Captain Third Company, detached from Third Rowan Regiment. The National Archives Record in Washington shows that John Frost also served as Captain of "F" Company of Infantry in Colonel Jesse A. Pearson's Seventh Regiment of North Carolina Militia in the War of 1812.
He was married twice, first to Rebecca Boone and second to Elizabeth Chaffin Hunt, widow of Enouch Hunt. Rebecca Boone was the daughter of John and Rebecca Boone, John Boone being a first cousin of Daniel Boone.
The Wright genealogy books list twelve known children of Captain John Frost, six sons and six daughters. All of the children from the first marriage except the last son, Chaffin Frost.
The ninth child was John Frost Jr.
Not confirmed, but he is believed to be buried in Gainesville Alabama Sumpter County, based on some family letters found. His wife (Elizabeth) apparently went back to Missouri and is believed to have been buried in Lone Jack Missouri.
