About Capt. John Grattan Guinness

John Grattan Guinness was born in 1783

He was the son of Arthur Guinness and Olivia Whitmore. He married, firstly, Susanna Hutton, daughter of a local alderman Hutton. He married, secondly, Jane Mary Lucretia Cramer, daughter of William Cramer, on 5 January 1829

    John Grattan Guinness gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Honourable East India Company Service. He two sons and three daughters by his first wife, all of whom died without issue, and anotjher son and a daughter by his second marriage, both of whom were childless.

Capt John Grattan served in the Indian army for about 20 years. When he returned to Ireland he was given a job within Guinness
