Joseph Craft, the eldest child of Samuel Craft, Jr. & Elizabeth Sharp, and great grandson of the family's immigrant ancestor Griffin Craft(s), was b. of record on October 1, 1694 at Roxbury, Massachusetts and died at Pomfret, Connecticut on January 23, 1754, Æ 60.

Per the Craft(s) Genealogy, Joseph married circa 1719 Susanna Warner, whose parents and origins are not given. The Putnam Congregational Church was organized in Killingly, Connecticut in 1715. At the time the church parish encompassed portions of present-day Pomfret, Killingly and Thompson, Connecticut. On October 29, 1719 of record in the Putnam Congregational Church, Joseph Craft of Roxbury, Massachusetts m. Susanna Warner of Pomfret, Connecticut, daughter of Samuel Warner and Mehitable Sabin, born of record July 19, 1703 in Woodstock, Connecticut. At the time of her birth Woodstock was part of Massachusetts, now in Windham County, Connecticut. She died in Pomfret on August 26, 1786 (g.s.)

Joseph "Craft" and Susanna "Craft," obviously husband and wife, were admitted as covenant members of the Roxbury Church in August 1720, one month prior to the purported birth of their first child, Susanna (neither her birth nor baptism appears in the Roxbury records). An extended bio will be added later. The Pomfret vital records uses the name "Craft" for the entire family, and Joseph's gravestone has the surname of Craft vs. Crafts.
