About Capt. Ledlie Irwin Laughlin, (USA)
- Ledlie's birth and death information are available in his obituary in the Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh, Penna., Tuesday, February 8, 1977, page 14.
- During World War One, Ledlie served as a captain in the 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Division. As a civilian, he was employed from 1912 to 1928 by the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation; he was a director until 1962. In 1928, he returned to his alma mater, Princeton University, and became the freshman adviser and the assistant to the director of admissions. He served as a counsel to many incoming freshmen, until he retired in 1953 as associate director of admissions.
- His book, Pewter in America, was published in 1940. A third volume, published in 1971, described the history of American pewter, pewter manufacturers, and pewter marks.
