About Capt. Matthew Bowen
Son of Henry Bowen, Esq. (1700-1758) and Margaret Davis (1699-1762). Married Mary Dana 4 Oct 1750 at Pomfret, Connecticut.
Matthew was a saddler, storekeeper, surveyor, constable, the town moderator, and officer in the Revolution, and participant at the Battle of Rhode Island, 29 August 1778. He was a captain of a company in Col. Samuel Chapman's regiment, Gen. Tyler's Brigade.
