About Capt. Peter Albritton, Jr.
Shortly after selling his land in NC, Feb 15, 1804, Peter moved his family to Washington County, Georgia [TENN]. Peter was in Washington County in 1814 when he was elected Captain of the local Militia. This occurred on April 14, 1814. Captain Peter Albritton left Washington County about 1825 together with his sons Asa, Amos and Moses plus their families and moved to Jefferson County, Florida just across the Florida-Georgia Line traveling south via the Coffee Road through Lowndes and Thomas Counties. The 1830 census of Jefferson County, Florida shows Peter, Asa and Amos living side by side. Peter's wife, Harriet, had apparently died prior to the 1830 census. Peter died about 1835 in Jefferson County and shortly thereafter his sons moved back to Georgia, settling in Randolph County.
