(VII) Philip Hichborn. son of Robert Hichborn (6), was born in Boston about 1768. He carried on a coopering business there, and when his father went to Stockton to build ships he became a partner and went to sea as captain of a barque. He had been south and had a cargo of flour returning, when the vessel was wrecked off the Jersey coast in 1815. He escaped with his life, however, and returned home, but died soon afterward. Eliza Hichborn was appointed administratrix January 11, 1819. He had married first, September 16, 1792, Betsey Hopkins, at Boston.
