Hon. Samuel SLOCUM ( Samuel , Ebenezer , Giles ) was born 9 Sep 1711 in Jamestown, Newport Co., Rhode Island.

    //born on Canonicut Island, Jamestown Township, RI, the 9th day of Seventh month 1711. he removed with his parents to North Kingstown Township, RI, previous to the year 1729, and was there married in 1733 by George Thomas, JP, to Ann Gould of that place.
    He was admitted freeman of North Kingstown in 1734, but returned to Jamestown where he and his wife Ann, under date of 18 June, 1741, deeded a certain tract of land in Exeter Township, RI to his "infant (minor) borther Peleg Slocum of North Kingstown for his better support and living."
    He was chosen Town Sergerant for Jamestown 20 Apr. 1742, and Deputy to the Rhode Island General Assembly in 1743, and also in 1772 and '73. In the year 1757 he was referred to in the Colonial Records as Captain of Militia, and he was that year chosen enlisted officer for Jamestown.
    He married second, Hannah Bill, 27 November, 1746, and his household numbered seven heads in 1774.

    Samuel Slocum, born Jamestown, Sept. 9, 1711, married (1) Ann Gould in 1733 in North Kingstown. Sometime after 1738 he moved back to Jamestown. On Nov. 27, 1746, he married Mrs. Hannah (Franklin) Bill there. In 1742 he was the Jamestown Town Sargeant and he served as a deputy in the General Assembly in 1743, 1772, and 1773. In 1757 he was made captain of the Jamestown Militia.

Samuel married (1) Ann GOULD, daughter of John GOULD and Elizabeth GARDINER, on 1733 in No. Kingstown, Kings Co., Rhode Island. Ann was born about 1714 in No. Kingstown, Washington Co., Rhode Island. She died before Nov 1746 in Jamestown, Newport Co., Rhode Island.
