About Capt Stephen Curtis

Captain Stephen Curtis was the commander of the schooner "The Edward." He died 11 Feb. 1801 aboard his ship out of Haiti in the West Indies of Yellow Fever. His wife Elizabeth or Eliza "Betsey" Starr had died the month before on 10 Jan 1801. Their three orphaned children were taken by his sister Mary Curtis and her husband, David Davis, to the vicinity of Auburn, Maine.
