Asserted to have married firstly Mary Inman (Apr. 3, 1742 - 1801), daughter of Elijah Inman and Susannah, born in Glocester in Providence County, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, and died in Wantage, Sussex County, New Jersey.

Asserted to have married secondly Rachel Sanford (b. July 23, 1733) on Oct. 31, 1751 in Greenwich. Born in Redding in Fairfield County, Connecticut Colony, and dying in Connecticut.

Notes that Stephen Mead is described as a military lieutenant and captain, and was said to be a prominent man in the town affairs of Redding, Connecticut. Elected as the first town clerk in 1767, and held additional offices in his political career. Took part in a committee in 1768 that set bounds of the district. In Goshen, Orange County, New York, Stephen Mead is listed on a monument located in the church yard that honors those who died at the Battle of Minisink.
