DAR records show Capt Thaddeus Bowman and seven of his sons were in the Revolution - each in two battles - all but one in the battle of Lexington.

Thaddeus, known more popularly as captain Thaddeus, married twice. His second wife was Sybil Roper Woolson and their second son was Ebenezer born on July 31, 1757.
Captain Thaddeus Bowman was the son of Joseph and Phebe Barnard Bowman. He married first on December 2, 1736, Sarah Loring, who died December 23, 1747; and second, February 8, 1753, Sybil Woolson, a widow. He was commissioned Captain of the Lexington Militia in 1763 and served as such until the outbreak of the war. In 1775, he was elected Chairman of the Lexington Committee of Safety and Correspondence for three years. He was the first to meet the British forces approaching Lexington on April 19, 1775. His name appears on the Roll of Honor in the Archives at Washington of those who furnished money for carrying on the war. He died May 26, 1806, at New Braintree, Massachusetts.
